laissez les bon temps rouler

I took French for 5 years but I had to look it up – the prompt in English is “let the good times roll.”

My parents live on one of the three major lakes in our area. It is beautiful there all year round but especially in the summer. They have 3 bedrooms with beds to sleep 6 and a few more if you pull out the sleeper sofa in the basement and throw a mattress on the den floor.  With a kitchen sporting two ovens, a long dining room table seating 10 on holidays, this house is a great place to host visitors.

It was late August, crunch time for many of us, and it just didn’t work out for everyone to stay longer.

Mom sent a note the other day that she and my dad have signed up for another trip this summer.  I’m getting my invitations out early this year.  Laissez les bon temps rouler!!IMG_6461

ooooh! Ahhhh! What a perfect retreat! That’s my idea of a really good time, too. Being with friends and doing what you love – or not doing anything! – is the best! Love the beautiful blue quilt, too – your mother made it, right?

Very jealous. Some of my favorite times are at the family lake place. It’s long gone, but the memories will be there forever. Have (another) fantastic time.
