I’m intrigued by Miami’s poetry contest titled “Zip Ode” and have contrived one of my own – based on my Easter sunrise service experience. My zip code is 98226:
The park at the lake is empty at dawn.
Mist rises from the water and geese feed.
Dark foothills
rim sky
where day promises to break open.
I don’t usually wake early to witness the sunrise
watching and waiting, my senses alert to every
nuanced minute.
Just briefly
my life is on God’s time.

Waking up at dawn and savoring the day. Being present and alive. Isn’t that what life’s about?

Another gorgeous poetry and photography combo! I love “day promises to break open” and the last frame best.

Your images are divine.
I like the simple rhythm of your line, “I don’t usually wake early to witness the sunrise…”
What a beautiful place.

I love this idea and may try it out myself. Your poem and the images that accompany it are lovely. If only we were always on God time!

These pictures are SO beautiful!! Are you a photographer too?? I really loved the last line, “just briefly, my life is on God’s time”. This was such a wonderful post and the pictures really made it! I’m glad you had such a lovely morning.

Lovely thoughts and pictures! And I am thinking we should all spend more of our lives on God’s time.

That gives new meaning to Easter Sunrise Service…the one I went to was indoors. The one you saw was God’s gift.
