I wrote a slice,
it wasn’t nice (ly finished that is.)
This haiku
will have to do.
From pen to page, then
in the night, whispers of words,
words to sift again.
Pen to page once more,
newly revealed breadth and depth,
words are not just words.

Love that way you played with words. I love taking topic choices and trying them out in poems, narratives, dialogues, etc. and see which one takes hold of me best.

I think it’s cool the way you used parentheses. It makes that line so interesting. I’m going to start percolating about ways I can try out this craft technique.

Haiku poems are the best. Kids love to write them. “Words to sift” again is an ongoing process.
