Vaccination day – or at least Half-Vac day!

I don’t usually take selfies of myself but today I did. I’m surprised at how hopeful it makes me feel knowing that more and more people in my community are getting their shot.

Maybe we will all continue to wear masks when we visit the grocery store and maybe restaurants will continue to offer open air seating all year round but I think I will feel like these are healthy choices, not fearful precautions.

I sense a little lightness coming back into my work place as well. These amazing early intervention providers are so ready to be back in homes meeting face to face with families and supporting these young children and it’s been so hard over Zoom. It’s not quite like the energy of August in a school setting – as I read on one teacher’s blog yesterday – but it does feel Spring-like: visions of renewal.

Yes, the way that the options are presented for masking and distancing may help us all feel like they are healthy choices rather than mandates. I look forward to those days.

You are so right: it feels like hope. I have been so happy to see so many teachers vaccinated. I think it will help to focus on the kids as we will not have to be quite as worried about our personal safety. Additionally, there is the refreshing feeling of not having to worry about unknowingly spreading the virus to our students. A step in the right direction is a good feeling. I celebrate with you!
